  9. The RLANMIB Working Group met on Monday, July 29th at the Atlanta IETF.

  11. Actions:

  13. By consensus the group decided that the Working Group should change its
  14. name to RMONMIB. This better reflects the structure of the MIB being
  15. developed by the Working Group.  The Chair will change the mail list and
  16. inform the IETF administration.  This change in no way is meant to
  17. change the Charter.  Such activities may take place, but that is another
  18. issue.

  20. By consensus the Working Group decided that the RMON MIB should begin
  21. the standards process.  This action would take place after several
  22. changes are incorporated into a new draft.

  24. What to Do Next

  26. It is recognized that the RMON MIB will become a standard only through
  27. implementation.  Users and vendors were encouraged to review the MIB by
  28. implementation.  Recommendations for change and modification will be
  29. driven by implementation.

  31. The Working Group discussed possible Token Ring and FDDI activities.
  32. There was definite interest (14 for Token Ring and 12 for FDDI), but the
  33. overlap of the two groups was high (8).  It was decided that if given a
  34. choice between the two MIBs, Token Ring was of more immediate concern.
  35. The Chair took on the task of coordinating the development of a Charter
  36. for a Token Ring Extensions Working Group for the RMON MIB.
